Review: Saje Natural Deodorant

I did it. I have made the switch to natural deodorant.

Over the past few years, I’ve become more and more aware of what I put on my skin. I’ve made small changes to my beauty products, opting for more natural options – if they work.

One of the products that I was most skeptical to switch to was a natural deodorant. I admit, I always used really heavy antiperspirants in the past and felt like I “needed” it.

I’m a sweaty person. I’m typically always hot, and I workout. I assumed that natural deodorant would not be able to tame my sweat and smell. But I was pleasantly surprised!

I tried the whole suite of Saje Natural Deodorants. I tried the sprays and the crystal stick. It’s been about a month, and I’m still using them! To me, this means that I’ll most likely continue to use these products.

For me, the sprays work pretty well. I prefer the scent of the Floral and Exotic spray. The Peaceful Warrior scent is nice, but it does smell like a yoga studio (ahem, patchouli anyone)? It’s more of a classically masculine smell. I’m not confident that the crystal does anything, but I use it right when I get out of the shower since you have to wet it to activate it. Not so handy if you’re on the go.

I bought all three sprays since one stays in my purse at all times. Natural deodorant does not last all day, and I find myself spraying at least once per day around noon or 1pm. I don’t really mind it – but do be prepared to carry around the spray with you.

A random benefit I found from using natural deodorant is that it has changed the texture and look of my underarm skin. I typically had dry skin, a bit flaky, and my pits were no stranger to red marks and rashes. With the change in deodorant, my skin has improved drastically in only one month!

I might try different brands down the line – but I do like the performance of the Saje spray, and I love the fact that it’s Canadian! I do like supporting Canadian companies when I can.

Are you brave enough to make the switch? There’s a lot to read out there about the reasons why to make the switch to natural deodorant, but for me, I just try to take the simple approach of having less chemicals on my skin for better health.
